  • Seasons

    Fall is such a charged time, full of energy and life -- nature's last shout before she's silenced for the winter months.

    Fall reminds me of home, of the mountains (ok, hills) and fiery trees, the excitement, the family projects -- living.

    Fall reminds me of Jesus:  it's the Gethsemane of the seasons, His passion shown in colors bursting from every corner.  Winter is that Sabbath day He was in the tomb, and Spring -- oh, Spring -- is that beautiful Sunday morning -- what I will now call Resurrection Day, like Dad does.

    Spring is joy, a longing that cannot be captured, every living cell within me crying out for something greater.  How blessed am I that I know where to find the answers!

  • Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

    Two songs I love; two different genres; one Spirit.  Listen...

    I'm in love with a Man, I'm in love with a Stranger
    I'm in love with my Maker whom I have never seen
    I'm in love with the Lamb, I'm in love with the Lion
    I'm in love with my Savior whom I have yet to know

    O won't You let me love You more, this is all that I desire
    Won't You let me love You more, this is all that I require
    Won't You let me love You more, this is my deepest heart's desire
    Won't You let me love You more, still more, and more

    Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
    Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray;
    See if there be some wicked way in me;
    Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.

    O won't You let me love You more, this is all that I desire
    Won't You let me love You more, this is all that I require
    Won't You let me love You more, this is my deepest heart's desire
    Won't You let me love You more, still more, and more

    You could give to me the gift of walking on water
    Maybe I will raise the dead
    I have one life to live all I have to give to You is love
    I have one life to live all I have to give to You is love

    O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
    Send a revival, start the work in me;
    Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
    For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

    If I never walk on water, if I never see the miracles
    If I never hear your voice so loud
    Just knowing that You love me is enough to keep me here
    Just hearing those words is enough is enough to satisfy
    You do You do You satisfy

    I couldn't leave even if a tried
    I must have You I must have You

    When it's been said and when it's all been done
    When the race is run it all comes to love

    ~ "Let me love You more" by Misty Edwards, and Search Me, O God, the hymn by James E. Orr

    If we love Him we will keep His commandments; His commandments are to Love, Him first, others second.  Have a "Mary heart in a Martha world."

    I wanna write a medley combining these songs, and "Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart," too.

  • A day in the life....

    Oh what a beautiful mooooorning, oh what a beautiful day.......

    Testing Session 1:  8:45 am

    I'm SO sleepy.  It's rare that I start falling asleep in the testing center... ok, that's a lie... but I NORMALLY don't.  But today I am -- oops.  Did I just say that?

    I try to read to stay awake -- reading the book Dr. McCray assigned before next week's staff training, for instance -- but it puts me to sleep.  Reading about business inputs/non-profit outputs is cool, but not stimulating enough for me.  I guess I could do my other work, like updating the Testing Center Manual.  Maybe later.  Editing can be a bore, though I'm pretty good at it.

    Testing Session 2:  10:30 am

    Ok, finishing the first session and starting the second has woken me up a little more now.  (Is woken a word?)  I love our students here!  I pray they pass.

    I think I'll get some work done this session (I mean, besides monitoring the testers).  I read my Bible in the last one, which was good, since I didn't when I first woke up.  It was in John 8, very cool.  Jeremiah 1-2 is awesome, too.

    I love my commute to work every morning -- down three halls and two flights of stairs, halfway down the second floor of Building 2.  Takes about 1.5 minutes, when there's no traffic, that is.   I'm pretty blessed.

    Testing Session 3:  2:00 pm

    The Academic Department watched the next 7 Laws of the Learner session on video over lunch hour today.  Then I did office work for 45 minutes -- made a phone call, filed a maintenance request form, a couple other minor things.  Now it's the third and last session of the day.  I had two cancellations -- one from an outside tester -- so only 2 of our students are testing now.  We've had low volume this summer with only the 2009 class here (only half the student body).

    Adam's drilling in the hall... the walls in the Testing Center are sound proof, but the doors aren't.  It's ok, tho; he asked first.

    We're doing a girls' canoe camping trip tomorrow -- should be sweeeeet!!!  I'm going to Target with Bekah after dinner tonight to get some stuff for it.  Hopefully we can stop by the Verizon store, too, so i can get my cell phone bill looked at.  Hopefully, we'll play lots of volleyball tonight, too!!!  i love volleyball, and it's just the thing after a long day in the office (and testing center).

    Welp, that's my life!  Hope you enjoyed.  Tune in next time for more exciting news in the life of a Verity Test Administrator.

  • A New Semester

    I hate starting new xanga posts because I tend to make them so shallow.  Life is too full, in a good way, I'm learning too much, so... I just end up generalizing and saying nothing.

    Like I just did.

    But... I'M BACK AT VERITY!!!  About 2 weeks before going back, I was HATING that I would have to leave NJ again.  Then, about a week ago, I started getting excited.  All last week my extended family were on vacation at Lake Champlain in NY state, at this Christian camp place (it was awesome!), and all week long I was getting phone calls of one kind or another about testing -- none from Verity, but outside testers or organizations.  So I was getting back in the work mode.

    This will be my last year, tho, I have a feeling.  God is calling me on... I feel the tug stronger each time I go home.  But His will for me there isn't clear yet -- I know I'm supposed to be here this year.  Don't ask me how I know... I've just had a peace about it since I made the decision.

    I'm SO looking forward to volunteering at the Teen Challenge Girls' Home this year -- it's one of the things I've been most excited about for this year.

    Man, God has taught me SO much.  I could ramble for ages, but it's too personal, too deep... I'm REALLY in love with Him.  He was the realest thing ever to me over break, especially... well, the second half, let's put it that way.  I can't believe people can live without Him, and I can't believe I've spent days without talking to Him or thinking about Him.

    And I really hope it doesn't go away.  :-/

  • Mall Evangelism's the bomb

    Today we went to the Willowbrook Mall to set up our Bible Table.  It's a ministry my dad's been doing for a while -- once every month or two we sign up for the Community Table at a mall and put out free Bibles.  People stop by and ask us what we're doing and why, and take a Bible (for themselves or for family and friends).  We tell them, "we're giving out free Bibles because we believe the Word of God should be free for everyone who wants to hear what He has to say."  On our sign we say, "NO obligations, NO donations accepted."

    So we disseminate the Word, which God promises will not return void.  Actually, a large reason my dad came to Christ for salvation was simply from reading the Word itself, and that's why this kind of ministry means so much to Him.  Really, it's one of the best things we can do -- let God be God and work in His own way in His own timing.  We're just available.

    We gave out over 100 Bibles tonight!  Praise God.  Mostly New Testaments, English and Spanish, and some Gospel of Johns.  The complete Bibles are more expensive (like, 3 times as expensive) so we try to reserve them for people who definitely have no Bible at home already.  (You'd be surprised how many Christians just want to add to their Bible collections at home!   We're such filthy-rich, materialistic Americans.  Oh well.)

    Not as many people come for "free" stuff as you might think (which is good); we don't try to push the Bibles but wait for the Holy Spirit to draw those who He's working on.  We're not looking for "big numbers," but for quality interactions.  We try to make sure people only take them if they really intend to read them (or give them to someone who will).  It seems to be a blessing to other Christians, too -- they get inspired to do the same thing.

    Our church pays for the Bibles for us from the International Bible Society.  If anyone's interested in doing something like this, I'd encourage you to contact the International Bible Society at IBSdirect.com or 719-488-9200, and call your local mall or shopping center to ask about community tables.

    God bless!
